Research Interests

Main research area is Computer Architecture. Especially, I am interested into the network topology and data transfer method for high performance computation on massively parallel processors. Current most interesting problem is miscellaneous problems for CP-PACS, a "Creative Basic Resarch Project" funded by Ministry of Education.

CP-PACS is a distributed memory MIMD massively parallel processor, which uses a Hyper-Crossbar Network as an interconnection network among thousands of Processing Units. Hyper-Crossbar Network is a kind of multi-stage crossbar network, which is suitable for large scale scientific calculations requiring several kinds of communication patterns including nearest neighbor, butterfly, etc. Hyper-Crossbar can also achieve very high throughput even for random transfer.

Currently, I am interested into several buffering techniques like virtual channel and virtual cut-through for adaptive routing and performance improvement of Hyper-Crossbar Network.

I am also interested into the general parallelizing techniques for many kinds of scientific problems on massively parallel processing systems. The research targets are not only massively parallel processing systems like CP-PACS, but also the workstation clusters connected with some network and communication library like PVM.
